We have all seen many of our favorite bloggers share recent posts on eye creams. Which got me thinking before my first encounter with an eye cream, two years ago … I wasn’t quite sure when was the best time to start using one. I simply assumed I would wait till my thirties or when I start noticing fine lines around my eyes, to my discovery that was the wrong mindset!
The eye area is the most delicate area on the face, and we should all start using it as early as our 20’s. Why? Because like the saying ‘prevention is better than cure’, it’s best to protect that area before you notice the lines as it’s much harder to get rid of them at a later stage.
Morning vs Night?
When I first started wearing eye cream I struggled to understand when the best time is to wear it. In the mornings with the limited time we have, we are most likely to apply other products over the eye cream, which makes it ineffective. Eye cream needs time to absorb into the skin making the best time, night time; as we already should be avoiding the eye area when we use any other skincare products. By avoiding the eye area, you are not interfering with the eye cream as it absorbs into the skin.
How to use it?
As I’ve mentioned before the eye area is the most delicate area on the face, therefore you are required to be gentle to avoid early signs of aging or irritating the skin which could lead to dark circles. Use the ring finger to apply as this is the weakest finger in a patting motion, don’t smear as this irritates the skin.
